• Educate yourself. Learn as much as you can about the type of test you’ll be receiving. Make sure that you understand what test you’re having, why you need it, what preparation is necessary, how long it will take, and the benefits and potential risks. Follow any specific instructions you receive, such as not eating for a certain period before your appointment or stopping certain medications. 

• Be prepared to answer questions. As you should ask questions, your provider will have many questions of their own. Be ready to answer questions about whether you are pregnant, whether you are allergic to any foods or medications, what surgeries you have had, whether you have a pacemaker, and so on. Accurate information is key to successful medical imaging in Blacktown. 

• Take extra care when preparing your child for a visit. If you are bringing your child to a diagnostic imaging centre, talk with them in advance about what to expect. Consider helping your child pack a few comfort objects and make sure that they wear comfortable clothing. Remember that children pick up on their parents’ anxiety, so try to be calm and positive, even if you are worried.
