Consult with an X-Ray Specialist with an Immediate Walk-In Appointment

Do you need to consult with an X-ray specialist? An X-ray is a crucial tool for diagnosing and planning treatment for a wide range of injuries and illnesses. At Specialist Medical Imaging, we are proud to offer X-ray and other medical imaging services during walk-in appointments.

When Should I Look for an X-Ray Specialist

When is the right time to visit our X-ray centre in Parramatta? X-rays are vital diagnostic tools–here are a few reasons why you might seek an X-ray:

  • You believe that you might have a break, fracture, sprain, or other injury. Perhaps you rolled your ankle badly on a run over the weekend, or maybe you tripped and fell at work and hurt your wrist. If you suspect a break, sprain, strain, fracture, dislocation, or other injury, an X-ray is an excellent step to determine precisely what’s wrong.

  • You are experiencing chest pains. Have you been struggling with chest pain over the past few days? If so, seeking medical attention is a critical next step. Chest pain accompanied by coughing, fever or difficulty breathing, for instance, can indicate pneumonia. Chest X-rays can help diagnose the problem.

  • You suspect arthritis. If you have been experiencing chronic soreness, stiffness, or overall loss of function in certain joints, you may have arthritis. X-rays can help diagnose or confirm arthritic conditions, usually by identifying loss of cartilage or formation of bone spurs at specific joints.

Prepare for Your Visit to Specialist Medical Imaging

At Specialist Medical Imaging, we don’t require our patients to perform much preparation before they have their X-ray in Parramatta. However, here are a few little things that you can do to prepare for your visit, including:

  • Leave jewellery at home. Jewellery and other metal items can interfere with the quality of an X-ray. To avoid the risk of losing valuable insights or spending time removing your trinkets in our office, consider leaving rings, necklaces, bracelets and other jewellery at home when you visit us for an X-ray.

  • Be prepared to take contrast material. Knowing what to expect is the best way to prepare for an X-ray. On that note, know that certain types of X-rays will require you to take a ‘contrast material’ to enhance the image. You may need to swallow the contrast material or receive it as an injection.

  • Check our hours. While we welcome walk-in appointments, we do encourage our patients to check our hours before they visit to make sure that we will be open when they arrive. Our X-ray centre in Parramatta is open from 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to noon on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays.
