The All-in-One Ultrasound Clinic in Parramatta

We aim to provide our patients at the ultrasound clinic and referrers, with only the best, high-quality imaging, using only the best equipment, and we have continued to do so for the last 30 years. Specialist Medical Imaging is a full-service screening clinic based in Parramatta, Toongabbie, and Westfield.

Signs You Might Need To See an Ultrasound Specialist

One of the screenings we do at our clinic is ultrasound, along with x-rays, biopsies, dental/OPG, spinal injections, and CT scans to provide you with an all-in-one screening location. When would you need an ultrasound done?

  • When you are pregnant. We offer obstetric ultrasounds that are usually done during the pregnancy to make sure the mother and baby are doing well. This type of screening uses sound waves to form a picture instead, as ionising radiation will be harmful to the baby.

  • Clogged veins. A vascular ultrasound checks for any obstruction or blockages in your veins. This procedure again is non-invasive and uses sound waves to form an image of the veins, no needles necessary. If you have high cholesterol or high blood pressure or your doctor suspects arterial plague build-up in your veins.

  • Muscle or tendon tear. An MK ultrasound or a musculoskeletal ultrasound is a screening that our ultrasound technologist will use to spot any damage to muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves. It will also indicate how severe the injury is and if inflammation is present. The screening is pain-free, and no radiation is involved in the process with only the best equipment from Samsung, Carestream, and Siemens.

Prepare for Your Visit to an Ultrasound Centre

When an injury or discomfort occurs, there isn’t much you can do in terms of preparing yourself for the necessary diagnostics. You can, however, read up on the procedure, so you know what to expect and what we will expect from you.

  • CT scan with contrast. The overarching term of CT scan includes numerous procedures that we offer: cardiac angiogram; calcium score; perfusion; cerebral, brain, neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis scans; 4D parathyroid; colonography and an aortogram. When the doctor requests that fluid be injected before the scan to see problem areas better, you would need to fast three to four hours before you have the scan done.

  • Ultrasounds. Depending on the type of ultrasound, you may also be requested to fast beforehand, or if it is bladder-related, you may need to drink many glasses of water, to ensure bladder expansion during the screening. Your doctor will advise you on what to do and will either send you for a: general ultrasound; obstetric, vascular or MSK ultrasound in Blacktown, which our specialists will interpret and give a diagnosis through to your doctor.

  • DEXA (bone density test). It would be more comfortable if you wear loose-fitting clothing with no metal when you go for this type of screening. Cease taking calcium supplements at least a day before the scan takes place. Our high-tech equipment makes it as comfortable possible for the patient.
